Senate confirms Yahaya as Co-chairman of Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund
The Nigerian Senate approved Alhaji Umar Yahaya as Co-Chairman of the Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund’s governing body on Wednesday in Abuja.
Senator Uba Sani, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, recommended the confirmation.
In his report, Senator Sani stated that the candidate was examined in accordance with parliamentary process and deemed able to serve in the role for which President Muhammadu Buhari nominated him.
He stated that Alhaji Umar Yahaya was not opposed to a petition for any reason, and that the Senate should approve him promptly.
“That the Senate receive and examine the Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions’ report on the confirmation of the nomination of Umar Yahaya for the appointment as Co-Chairman of the Governing Council of Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund,”he said.
Senators contributed to the report, and the plenary moved into committee of the whole to ratify the appointment.
