The National Youth Service Corps has expressed concerns over the poor condition of its orientation camp in Niger State.

The Chairman, NYSC National Governing Board, Fatima Abubakar, said the toilet facilities and hostel accommodation at the orientation camp located in Paiko Local Government Area of Niger State were overused.

Abubakar expressed her displeasure when she led a delegation to pay a courtesy visit to the Niger state Governor, Abubakar Sani-Bello, in Minna on Monday.

She accused the state government of reneging on its promise of improving the facilities in the camp.

“I have gone to the orientation camp to inspect facilities and interacted with corps members, but what I saw at the camp was not encouraging, therefore, I have come to plead with you to improve on the facilities.

“The camp is very huge, but the facilities there are inadequate. Hostel accommodation for both female and male corps members is not comfortable especially in this era of COVID-19 pandemic,” she said.
