Omokri hails Buhari’s new directive, urge him to order Emefiele’s resignation
Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s former communications aide has praised President Muhammadu Buhari for ordering all ministers running for elected office in 2023 to quit.
Rotimi Amaechi, Ogbonnaya Onu, Emeka Nwajiuba, Chris Ngige, Abubakar Malami, and Timipre Sylva, among others, who have expressed presidential ambitions, were asked to quit by Buhari on Wednesday.
During the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, the instruction was given to cabinet members.
Omokri reacted by urging Buhari to appoint Godwin Emefiele as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
“General Buhari’s instruction to his ministers who desire to run for President to quit with immediate effect is admirable, but it is insufficient,” he wrote.
”For it to have potency, it must be expanded to include Emefiele, the CBN Governor, whose conflict of interest is alarming.”
