President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his resignation directive to all heads of agencies, departments, parastatals, and ambassadors.

He said any of them interested in contesting for elective position in the 2023 general elections should resign.

A circular newsmen obtained Thursday morning, showed that the office of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, was among the agencies copied.

The circular signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has its reference number as SGF/OP/ I/S.3/XII/ 173 and was titled, ‘Ministers, heads of government agencies, ambassadors and other appointees with political ambitions to resign’.

Recall that Buhari had earlier on Wednesday during the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting asked his ministers aspiring for elective position in the 2023 general elections to resign on or before Monday, May 16.
