Kaduna man Gambo jailed for impersonation
On Thursday, a Kaduna Chief Magistrates Court sentenced Waziri Gambo, 35, to six months in jail for impersonating a court clerk.
Gambo, who lives in Kawo, Kaduna State, had pled guilty to conspiracy and impersonation and prayed for leniency.
The prisoner, however, was given the option of paying a fine of N20,000 by Chief Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel.
The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, had previously informed the court that the prisoner and another person still at large pretended to be a court clerk, which they knew was untrue.
The offender and his accomplice, according to the prosecution, have a practice of collecting money from litigants while posing as court employees.
He went on to say that the offense was in violation of Sections 57 and 261 of the Kaduna State Penal Code
