Prison officer arrested In Kano State over accidental discharge

The Nigerian Correctional Service’s Kano State Command has reported an unfortunate occurrence of unintentional firing that killed a vendor and wounded another in the environs of the Goron Dutse Medium Security Custodial Centre.

DSC Musbahu Lawan, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the news in a statement released on Monday.

On the direction of the state Controller of Corrections, the officer involved was promptly detained, and a panel was formed to investigate the facts surrounding the heinous crime.

“While expressing his condolences to the deceased’s family members, the Controller prayed to God Almighty for the peace of the departed’s soul and the quick healing of the injured.”

He promised that the case would be duly investigated and appropriate action taken according to the provisions of the law, stating that the Service maintained zero tolerance for indiscipline and any form of recklessness..
