Ganduje turns down Amaechi’s request for endorsement
Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje on Wednesday declined to endorse the presidential aspiration of the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Amaechi, during his visit to Kano to solicit the support of the state All Progressives Congress (APC) delegates ahead of the primary elections of the party, told Ganduje, “I know your position as far as our party presidential candidature is concerned, and I want you to change for me”.
In his response, Ganduje said, “Kano is a swing state and we will continue to swing until the end, so try and be part of the swings”.
The governor, however, commended Amaechi for all his contribution for the APC and how he fought for the ruling party in the wee hours of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidency.
“We are aware how you suffered for our party at the mega movement of its formation, as DG Buhari Campaign Director, we knew how you were harassed as governor of Rivers State and how you were at a time denied from flying out from Kano which made you travel to Abuja by road,” Ganduje said.
Ganduje is believed to be one of the stunch supporters of the National Leader of the APC and one of the party’s presidential hopeful, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
