Gunmen kidnap woman, traditional rulers in Ebonyi community

A woman leader in Isuokoma community in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Mrs. Juliana Uzor, has been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen.

The woman leader was said to have been kidnapped in her farmland on June 17, 2022. 
The traditional Ruler of the community, Eze Ambrose Ogbu, was equally reported to have been abducted on the night of Wednesday June 22, 2022, in his palace.
While the abductors of the monarch have demanded N2million ransom for his release, the kidnappers of Mrs Uzor were yet to make any demand.

It was reported that both leaders of the community were still in the hands of the kidnappers.

It was also reported that since the residents of the community were living in fear and panic as they are not sure who will be the next person.  

A Community leader, Sunday Nwoko, has appealed to their abductors to release them unhurt.
“We are in shock because barely four days after her abduction, the traditional ruler of the community was also picked and taken to an unknown destination. Her name is Mrs. Juliana Uzor was kidnapped at her farm near Onu Esu. 
“She is from Uburu but married a Naval officer from Isu. Her husband died during her first pregnancy but she chose to stay with his family. She’s very active in community mobilization, and a born leader. I’ve known her since 1979 in secondary school.”
Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has maintained silence. 

Efforts to get the police reactions were unsuccessful as the Command’s spokesman, Chris Anyanwu, didn’t pick his calls as his phone rang out.
