Oyo Assembly select Ex-Commissioner, Bayo Lawal, As Deputy Gov

The State House of Assembly has selected Bayo Lawal, a former commissioner for Justice in the state, as the state’s next deputy governor.
On Monday, state lawmakers approved the bill.
The Oyo State House of Assembly impeached Engr Rauf Olaniyan as the state’s deputy governor, according to the Daily Trust.
He was fired after members of the Oyo House of Assembly heard and debated the proposal of a seven-member panel appointed by Chief Judge Munta Abimbola to examine charges of gross misconduct levelled against him.
However, according to the committee’s findings, which were delivered at Monday plenary, the deputy governor was found guilty on all claims.
The panel’s recommendations were supported by all 23 PDP legislators in the session.
The state assembly has initiated impeachment procedures against Olaniyan after he defected from the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) (APC).
Olaniyan is accused of gross misconduct, abuse of authority, financial irresponsibility, abandonment of official duties, insubordination, and other offenses.
