Police arrest homeless Nigerian woman notorious for breaking into mansions to sleep in US

Peace Ofoego, a Nigerian lady, was detained by authorities in Hamptons, New York for breaking into various luxury houses to sleep.
The 32-year-old lady has been dubbed “Goldilocks of the Hamptons” for her deceptions in Westhampton, where she has been detained three times for seeking refuge in homeowners’ backyards, pool houses, and rooms.
For the preceding several months, Ofoego had broken into no fewer than seven houses in upscale area to sleep, and had therefore been arrested three times for trespassing since the end of May.
According to the authorities, Ofoego from Nigeria stated she was escaping an abusive spouse in Florida and was working hard to reclaim custody of her children.
According to reports, Peter Nesvold, a Westhampton resident, photographed her as she attempted to gain entry into his home while his wife was inside. Ofoego was detained and taken away immediately after Nesvold phoned the police.
Another individual, John Mallon, discovered Ofoego inside his $35,000-per-month rental condominium. He also phoned the cops and requested them to document the incident, but he declined to prosecute her.
According to reports, Ofoego was first seen in Westhampton Beach on Memorial Day weekend, when a resident reported to police that a “black female wearing a black trench coat and sandals” was wandering through the backyard construction site of his four-bedroom rental property, which is located about a mile from the village’s train station.
When the cops arrived on May 29, she told them he had no identification or credit cards because she had been robbed while living in Washington DC.
She also stated that she had flown to New York City a few days prior, when she took a train to Westhampton Beach, where she was seeking for a hotel room near the coast.
Police then assisted her in to a nearby homeless shelter where she stated that she needed to charge her computer “and transfer monies to an account.”
But she was observed roaming through the upscale area again just a few days later, on June 2 – and it would not be the last time.
According to the Daily Mail, Ofoego walked through an unsecured gate from the beach to a $275,000-a-month eight-bedroom apartment on exclusive Dune Road.
She is then said to have entered the residence through an unlocked back deck, where she relaxed until police showed up – and charged her with criminal trespass.
“Subject stated she was staying at a house down the road and entered the stated residence to ask somebody about a restaurant to eat at,” a police report obtained by the Post says.
Then, just two days later, on June 4, Ofoego was spotted’staying’ in the pool house of a $35,000-per-month-rental property.
When police arrived and attempted to find another homeless shelter for Ofoego, “Peace began walking away,” an officer noted in his report, adding that he warned her that if she continued to go into village houses, she would be prosecuted for trespassing again.
Ofoego’s most recent meeting with Westhampton police was on June 24 at a ‘quintessential beachfront mansion’ with seven bedrooms and a rent of $280,000 in July and August.
According to the police report, she brazenly stepped into the second-story bedroom, which shocked the homeowner and resulted to her arrest.
When the police officers were processing her papers at the police station, Ofoego was alleged to have informed them they were mistaken and she merely “went inside to check at the rental.”
“You only want to arrest me,” she allegedly charged. “All I did was seek for a place to rent.”
Residents have stated on Facebook that Ofoego has been spending her days strolling through the hamlet and along the beach.
Some claim to have seen her on back roads, Main Street, in a summerhouse where musicians perform throughout the summer, and at a local marina.
Despite the scorching weather, she was photographed wearing the same black trench coat and black knit beanie she was pictured in back in May.
Janet Feldman, for example, stated on the Westhampton Beach Area Community Forum that she spotted Ofoego while walking her dog on the beach and down Dune Road in the morning.
“She certainly appears mentally ill,” Feldman observed.
“A few weeks ago, she approached me at Lidl begging for help,” Marie Costelli added. She needed money to buy food.
“As I was offering her money, which she accepted, a man who appeared to be the store manager ordered her to leave.” “I felt sad for her; I hope she receives the assistance she requires,” Costelli added.
Ofoego has stated that she is looking forward to representing herself in court, and she has refused a court-appointed public lawyer during hearings on July 6 and July 13.
Ofoego was disputing with the court during one of those hearings, according to Liam Anthony DeFronzo.
According to the Post, she informed cops who were attempting to serve her with a subpoena to appear in court that they were harassing her and threatened to sue them.
“It appeared to me that she is upset with her situation in life and with the system,” DeFronzo said. “Ultimately, it appears she’s seeking for a place to sleep, but you never know what she could do, and breaking into houses is not acceptable.”
“Does she actually desire assistance in obtaining refuge and is this a scream for help?” I’m not sure why, but I felt obligated to assist her the other day in the courtroom,” he said.
She told the Post that she was born in Nigeria but has lived in the United States for the past 13 years, arriving at the age of 19 and settling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she began studying medical science at Southern University.
She also stated that her father is a Nigerian journalist and that she was schooled at boarding institutions before arriving to the United States.
