Woman who absconded with three-day-old baby arrested in Ibadan
The Oyo State Police Command said on Tuesday that a lady who fled with a three-day-old infant in Ibadan, the state capital, had been apprehended.
According to the police, the suspect, Itunu Adepoju, who lives in Lagos, stole a three-day-old newborn girl from her mother last week.
Monsurat Lateef, the baby’s mother, resides in Ibadan’s Itamerin neighbourhood, Ogbere, Ona Ara Local Government Area.
Adewale Osifeso, the command’s public relations officer, confirmed the suspect’s arrest in a statement made on Tuesday.
He stated that the probe is still underway.
He went on to say that after the inquiry was completed, the case will be prosecuted in court.
“The complainant, Monsurat Lateef, obliged the suspect before she later realized she had been tricked and that the suspect had absconded with her child.
“Investigation is ongoing and the matter would be expressly charged to court upon its completion,” the statement read.
