The government of Osun State has announced today, Friday, a public holiday to commemorate the 1444AH hijrah.

Friday, July 29, 2022 corresponds to the first day of Muharram 1444 AH, the Islamic calendar’s first day.

Mr. Olalekan Badmus, the state Commissioner for Special Duties and the Supervising Commissioner for the Ministry of Home Affairs, advised Muslims in the state to pray for peace and development in a statement published and signed by him.

The Commissioner also urged all Muslims in the state to participate in spiritual soul searching in keeping with the core of the occasion as demonstrated by the qualities of Allah’s holy prophet, Muhammad, while on earth.

He also urged the support and collaboration of all inhabitants of the state as the Oyetola government ramps up its efforts to deliver the much-desired rewards of good governance and democracy to the people.
