Terrorists release five more abducted Kaduna train attack victims
Five more passengers abducted by terrorists when an Abuja-Kaduna train was attacked by bandits on March 28, 2022, have been freed.
The terrorists is believed to have been freeing the victims whose relatives were able to pay ransom.However, it is not clear if the relatives of the five latest hostages to be released paid money to the terrorists for their release.
The security agencies and the Federal Government are yet to confirm the development, but a member of the negotiating team, Tukur Mamu confirmed to journalists that the victims were released on Tuesday.He gave the names of the five released hostages as Professor Mustapha Umar Imam, who is medical at Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Ahmed Rufai Mukthar Shu’aibu, and Sidi Aminu Sharif.Mamu said that he played a prominent role in the release of the train victims.
He, however, said he had backed out over threats to his life, personal integrity and lack of support from the Federal Government.While 37 victims have been freed by the terrorists, 35 are still in captivity.
