The Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has informed the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar that he cannot guarantee his victory in the state in 2023 election.

He added that he has no problems with any of the party’s candidates during the inauguration of the campaign council on Tuesday in Makurdi.

Iyorchia Ayu should be fired as the party’s national chairman, according to Ortom and four other governors of the party led by Nyesom Wike of Rivers.

They had insisted that Ayu resign from his position to make room for a Southerner in compliance with the party’s zoning policy when Atiku emerged as its presidential candidate.

However, Ayu had vowed to remain in his position.

But Ortom urged the party’s national leadership to heed the voice of reason and solve the pressing issues brought up by the five governors.

He said, “All I and my colleagues want is for the committee of the whole house to address the issues holistically.

“If the issues that the five governors raised are not resolved, I cannot guarantee what will happen during the presidential election.”

According to Ortom, the PDP campaign in Benue has received a 25-bus donation from Wike. He said each of the 23 local governments would receive a bus.

“Wike has also promised to be in Makurdi for the flag-off of the campaigns slated for Monday,” he added and appreciated the Rivers governor for always identifying with Benue people both in good and bad moments.

Speaking so, the Acting Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Isaac Mffo, told the gathering that PDP would win the 2023 polls, boasting that the party had no opposition in Benue.
