Two children, seven adults killed as container falls on bus in Lagos
Nine people were killed after a 20-foot loaded container collided with a commercial bus in the Ojuelegba neighborhood of Lagos State.
According to investigations, the truck lost control and plummeted over the side of the bridge as the commercial bus was picking up passengers at the bus stop next to the Ojuelegba Bridge.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) personnel were among the first on the scene and they ripped off the top of the bus and suspended the container to save a woman and transport her to the trauma center.
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of LASEMA, said on Sunday that the incident was true.
He clarified that the nine casualties included a boy child, a girl child, four adult men, three adult females, and a youngster.
A brief statement confirming the collision was also released by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
According to the agency, efforts are being undertaken to save the victims.
