Umeh Trumps Ekwunife to Return to Nigerian Senate

After a long wait, the Returning Officer for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Prof. Chuka Enuka of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has declared former Senator Victor Umeh winner of Anambra Central Senatorial District elections which held on Saturday February 25, 2023.

Prof. Enuka announced the result at exactly 12:54am Tuesday morning. 
Senator Umeh of Labour Party polled 103, 608 votes to secure the coveted win.
He beat incumbent Senator Ekwunife who got only 49, 532 votes to come a distant third. 
Honourable Dozie Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA was, however, second with 69,702 votes
The APGA candidate currently represents Njikoka, Anaocha and Dunukofia Federal Constituency.
Other candidates in the election include Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe of the All Progressives Congress, APC who got 8,204 votes, Dr Chinedu Umeadi of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, who got 6909 votes, and Princess Helen Mbakwe of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP who polled 2465.
