A 50-year-old landlord in Ogun State, identified as Surulere Oladele, has been confirmed dead after one of his female tenants inflicted pains on his private parts during a disagreement on electricity bills.

The 33-year-old woman identified as Ifeoma Ossai, has been arrested by the Nigerian police, following a report lodged at Sango Ota Divisional Police headquarters by one Olaleye Taiwo, a brother to the deceased.

Taiwo had reported to the Police that his brother, Oladele, had a fight with his tenant over an electricity bill and in the process, the said tenant grabbed his manhood and dragged him with it.

He told the police that the landlord fell on the ground and he was rushed to General Hospital, Ota, where he died.

Confirming the incident on Tuesday in a statement, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ota Division, Saleh Dahiru, led his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested and taken into custody for investigation.

The police spokesperson said, “On interrogation, the suspect claimed that the deceased asked her to pay for the electricity bill, but she insisted that until water is directly connected to her apartment as promised by the landlord before she packed in she will not pay the electricity or any other utility bill.

“This led to a scuffle between them, consequent upon which the suspect grabbed the manhood of the deceased and dragged him with it.

“The deceased subsequently slumped, and he was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.”

Oyeyemi added that the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the hospital mortuary for a postmortem.

According to Oyeyemi, the Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
