Bayelsa Guber Primaries: APC Southern Ijaw Ward 3 and 4 Express Satisfaction in Selection Process of Delegates, Outcome of Congresses
Members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state have expressed satisfaction on the peaceful conduct and outcome of the Party’s Ward Congresses held statewide on Thursday.
The congresses in the various wards elected adhoc delegates ahead of the party primaries schedule to hold on 14th April, 2023.
In Olugbobiri Community, headquarter of Ward 4, Southern IJaw Local Government Area, five adhoc delegates were elected.
Also, in Korokorosei Olodiama 1, the Returning Officer for Southern Ijaw Ward 3, Richard Somkeme, declared the following as delegates for ward 3.
Matthew Perekebina 275 votes, Bonkewei, Lovingson 274 votes, Morris Idiara 280 votes, Elfrida Igoli 267 votes and Ayibatonbra Godsgift Okoria 293 votes.
He further stated the breakdown of the election as follows;
Total number of votes cast = 1456
Accredited Votes = 1389
Total Votes cast = 1389
Valid Votes. = 1389
Invalid Votes = NIL
Speaking at the venue in Olugbobiri, the Returning Officer for Southern Ijaw ward 4, Mr. Jonathan Mekezevie, described the process as free and fair.
Mekezevie expressed joy and applauded the manner in which members of the party conducted themselves during the Congress.
“It was free and fair. We all accepted it and we’re all happy. You can see our mummies, our daddies, our younger ones there, everyone is rejoicing. This is how elections should be,” he said.
Also speaking on the conduct of the congress in ward 4, the leader of the Izon-Tukpa Movement and one of the frontline Governorship aspirant, Great Joshua Maciver, expressed satisfaction with the process saying it is a clear indication that the party is on track.
