Northern Christian Youth Professionals Commend Tinubu’s Fuel Subsidy Removal and Call for Inclusive Appointments

A group of Arewa youths, operating under the banner of Northern Christian Youth Professionals, has expressed their appreciation to President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his decisive action in announcing the removal of fuel subsidies. Furthermore, they have urged the forthcoming administration to prioritize the appointment of Northern Christians to cabinet positions and government parastatals.
During his inaugural address at Eagle Square, Abuja, President Tinubu emphatically declared that his administration would cease the payment of fuel subsidies. Citing the substantial opportunity costs borne by the Federal Government to sustain these subsidies, he emphasized that the continuation of such practices could no longer be justified.
In response to this significant announcement, Isaac Abrak, Chairman of the Northern Christian Youth Professionals, issued a statement on Tuesday commending the president for his boldness in taking the matter head-on and articulating the decision during his inaugural speech. Abrak expressed admiration for Tinubu’s commitment to implementing crucial reforms that would contribute to the betterment of the nation. The statement further urged the president to remain resolute in his determination to execute this vital policy, recognizing its potential to foster a more sustainable and equitable economic environment for all Nigerians.
Addressing the immense responsibilities that lie ahead for President Tinubu as he assumes the highest office in the land, Abrak conveyed his confidence in the leader’s ability to guide the nation towards a prosperous future. In light of the support the president received during the last election, he appealed to the presidency to prioritize the appointment of competent Christians from Northern regions. This move, Abrak argued, would help address concerns of fairness and federal character by balancing the Muslim-Muslim ticket that secured Tinubu’s presidency.
“We humbly remind you of the support we provided during your campaign and respectfully request that you prioritize the appointment of Northern Christians to key strategic positions within your administration,” Abrak stated. He emphasized the longstanding desire of Northern Christians for increased representation and inclusion in decision-making processes. By appointing deserving Northern Christians to crucial roles such as the Secretary General of the Federation, Security Chiefs, and other vital positions, the president would not only acknowledge their collective support but also ensure that the diverse voices and perspectives of the region are adequately represented at the highest levels of governance.
Looking ahead, Abrak acknowledged the challenges that lie on the path ahead but expressed unwavering belief in the transformative leadership of President Tinubu and his Vice President. The Northern Christian Youth Professionals pledged their steadfast support and commitment to the administration’s endeavors, offering their expertise and resources to help achieve the noble goals set forth by the president.
In conclusion, the group’s message reverberates with a sense of optimism, recognizing President Tinubu’s bold steps towards reform and appealing for inclusive governance that respects the diversity of Nigeria’s population. It remains to be seen how these requests will be addressed by the incoming administration, but the Northern Christian Youth Professionals stand ready to collaborate in the pursuit of a prosperous future for their beloved nation.
