Tinubu’s Swift Actions Halt Nationwide Strike, Garnering Praise, Comparisons to Buhari

In a commendable display of leadership, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has effectively averted a nationwide strike planned by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC). These discussions are set to encompass several critical areas of concern, including the review of proposals for wage increases or awards, the expansion of the World Bank Financed Cash transfer scheme to include low-income earners, and the revival of the CNG Conversion program, which was initially agreed upon with labor centers in 2021.

Furthermore, the joint committee formed by the federal government, TUC, and NLC will address pressing issues in the education sector, develop strategies for the completion of the nation’s refineries’ rehabilitation, and establish frameworks for road maintenance and the expansion of rail networks across the country. All additional demands put forth by the TUC will be carefully assessed by the committee.
