The North-Central region is likely to experience a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine. Morning thunderstorms are expected in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa states. Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated in the region later in the day.

In the morning hours, the inland states of the South and coastal cities can expect a cloudy atmosphere, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms in Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa states. Thunderstorms are forecasted to cover the entire region later in the day.

On Tuesday, a sunny atmosphere is expected with scattered clouds in the northern region, accompanied by morning thunderstorms in areas such as Sokoto, Kebbi, Taraba, and Adamawa states. Thunderstorms are predicted later in the day in Katsina, Kaduna, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Nasarawa, and Kogi states. Additionally, thunderstorms are likely to occur in parts of Plateau, Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, and Kogi states during the afternoon and evening hours.

The inland states of the South and coastal areas will experience a cloudy atmosphere, with the possibility of thunderstorms in Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Lagos later in the day. Few patches of clouds are expected over the northern region, with the chance of morning thunderstorms in Bauchi, Kaduna, and Jigawa states.

NiMet’s forecast for Wednesday includes thunderstorms over parts of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, Borno, Taraba, and Adamawa states. The morning hours in the North Central region will bring a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine. Thunderstorms are anticipated in the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, and Plateau states.

The inland states of the South and coastal areas can expect a cloudy atmosphere in the morning, with the possibility of thunderstorms in Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos states. Thunderstorms are anticipated to cover the entire region during the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet advises the public to exercise caution in areas where thunderstorms are expected, as strong winds may precede the rains, potentially causing damage to trees, electric poles, unsecured objects, and weak buildings. It is recommended to stay indoors during heavy rainfall to avoid the risk of being struck by lightning. NiMet also advises airline operators to regularly access weather reports to plan their operations effectively. Furthermore, moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods, so the public is urged to take necessary precautions.

NiMet emphasizes the importance of proactive measures by disaster risk managers, agencies, and individuals to prevent loss of lives and property during the rainy season.
