Ogun Amotekun Commander, Akinremi, Passes Away
Ogun Amotekun Commander, David Akinremi, has tragically passed away on the evening of June 27, 2023. Akinremi, a retired Commissioner of Police, was appointed by Governor Dapo Abiodun in 2021 as the pioneering Commander of the newly established Amotekun Corps.
Reports indicate that Akinremi had been battling an undisclosed illness for some time before his demise. His death has come as a rude shock to many, including the Commander of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, Soji Ganzallo, who described the loss as significant for Ogun State.
In an official statement released by Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf from the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Ganzallo expressed his admiration for Akinremi. He referred to him as “Uncle Dave” and highlighted his admirable qualities, such as being open, blunt, wonderful, large-hearted, intelligent, strategic, adaptable, adept, and adventurous. Ganzallo emphasized Akinremi’s integrity, passion for the security job, and his love for Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.
Throughout his tenure, Akinremi remained committed to the belief that Ogun State would excel in terms of security and safety among all states in the country. His dedication and contributions will be dearly missed, leaving a void in the ongoing efforts to protect and safeguard the state and its residents.
