Our Nursing Education and Healthcare Institution

Each of these institutions was established with one goal: to strengthen the nursing profession so nurses can meaningfully contribute to their communities’ health outcomes.

To address Nigeria’s healthcare gaps, we focus on four core pillars:

1. Strengthening Infrastructure and Increasing Access

We have expanded and improved our facilities to meet the high standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), allowing more students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to access quality training.

2. Modernizing Curriculum and Teaching Methods

Our programs integrate:

Digital health technology, emerging global health issues, evidence-based nursing practices, leadership, and community health concepts.

We also run inter-curricular exchange programs with our institutions in California to expose Nigerian trainees to international standards and innovations.

3. Establishing a Model Healthcare Facility

The Ezzy Multi-Specialist Hospital in Enugu serves as a practical training site and a model of what high-quality healthcare can look like in Nigeria. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the hospital supports government efforts to enhance healthcare delivery while providing affordable and compassionate care.

4. Supporting Communities Through Outreach

Our free medical outreaches, especially for nursing mothers and vulnerable groups, ensure that underserved populations receive needed services while allowing trainees to gain valuable experience in community health.

Addressing Africa’s Nursing Crisis

According to recent WHO statistics, Nigeria, despite being a regional leader, still has fewer healthcare workers per 1,000 people than the minimum threshold required for basic health delivery. The numbers are even more alarming in many other African nations.

At the 2025 African Brain Bank (ABB) Conference in New York, our CEO, Chief Mrs. Gloria Bertram Okoli, addressed one of the most pressing threats to Africa’s healthcare system: the mass exodus of trained nurses. This brain drain has resulted in:

Chronic understaffing in hospitals, overworked and underpaid nursing staff, declining quality of care, and diminished patient safety.

She emphasized the urgent need to:

Build a strong “army of nurses” across Africa, improve working conditions and pay, expand opportunities for skills development.

Ensure that governments formally recognize continuing professional education and fully integrate nurses into healthcare policy and leadership roles.

She also stressed the importance of stamping out corruption in healthcare financing and ensuring that every dollar allocated to the health sector is used responsibly and transparently.

Strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system requires more than equipment or infrastructure; it demands committed professionals, especially nurses, who are empowered to lead, innovate, and elevate healthcare delivery from the grassroots level.

To achieve this, Nigeria must:

Prioritize nursing education and training. Enhance workforce conditions and incentives. Integrate nurses into policymaking and leadership roles. Continuously reform curricula to stay aligned with global trends. Uphold strong regulatory and professional standards.
