Gunmen, suspected to be officers of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have on Saturday stormed the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Kwara State.

It was learnt that the gunmen gained access into the school and shot sporadically.

According to a video on social media, the gunmen were seen arriving at the school premises in a white bus and shooting as students flee to safety.

Some days ago, students had resisted attempts by the NDLEA to arrest some of them, and this was said to be retaliation from the agency, a source from the school revealed.

Meanwhile,  Kwara State police spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi, affirmed that he was aware of the incident but it did not involve the NDLEA.

“Students were protesting, so the police were deployed to the area,” Ajayi said.

“I am not aware of any gunmen, but the Kwara police arrived the institution to calm things,” he said.
