EFCC charges presidential aspirant, Okorocha, for allegedly stealing N2.9bn

A former Imo State governor and 2023 presidential aspirant, Senator Rochas Okorocha have been charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly stealing N2.9 billion from public coffers.

The anti-graft agency accused Okorocha of conspiring with others, including an APC politician and five companies to commit the alleged fraud.

The EFCC filed 17 charges against the senator, currently representing Imo West, at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Others the commission said conspired with Okorocha to commit the alleged crimes include Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited.

The EFCC said the accused diverted the funds between October 2014 and February 2016 from the Imo State Government House account and Imo State Joint Local Government Project account.
