Oyo State loses fourth traditional ruler in six weeks

Another traditional ruler in Oyo State, Oba Gabriel Adepoju, has joined his ancestors.

The monarch, who was until his death the Oloko of Oko Ile, joined the ancestors on Sunday.

Oko Ile is one of the towns in the Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

The monarch joined his ancestors in the early hours of Sunday at the age of 85, Daily Post reports.

The monarch, it was gathered ascended the throne in 1997.

The death of Oba Adepoju is coming after the death of no fewer than three prominent monarchs in the state.

Three prominent monarchs in Oyo State had died in the last six weeks. The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi died on 12th December 2021 at the age of 95.

The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji dies on January 2, 2022, at the age of 93.

Asiganga of Igangan in Ibarapa geopolitical zone also died within the period under review.
