PDP: Kolawole, best man for Ekiti job, Ayu taunts Oni

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, on Tuesday, taunted a former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, saying Bisi Kolawole, the party’s candidate for the coming governorship election in the state was the best man for the job.

Recall that Kolawole who is an anointed candidate of former governor Ayo Fayose recently emerged the winner of the PDP primary election after defeating Segun Oni and other contestants.

Reacting to Kolawole’s victory, Oni accused Fayose and the National Working Committee of the party led by the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, conniving to ensure Kolawole’s victory.

He also said with Kolawole becoming the party’s candidate, Fayose had handed over the party to APC in Ekiti State.

But Ayu, at the Party’s National Secretariat, Abuja, during the presentation of Certificate of Return to Kolawole, said Kolawole understands the rudiments of Ekiti State politics having served in the state House of Assembly, as civil Commissioner and later the state Chairman of the party.

“Bisi Kolawole has seen all as a politician. He is a perfect fit as our candidate. He was a member of the state house of assembly, he was a commissioner in the state and later PDP Ekiti State Chairman. So, Kolawole is a well-bred politician.

“Let me appeal to our brothers and sisters in Ekiti State to put behind all their grievances and work towards the success of our party. It is only when we win that we can sit down and talk better,” Ayu said.

Kolawole is expected to test the water with APC’s candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, and others for the governorship position on June 18 2022.
