Bandits have struck again in Katsina State, attacking Daddara town in Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria. 

Over 100 bandits, reportedly on a reprisal, stormed Daddara town in the Jibiya Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing six persons and kidnapping 15 others.

Among those killed were a village head and his four guards, according to a resident who fled to Katsina, the state capital. 

Residents of the town scampered to safer areas, with some fleeing to as far as cities in the Niger Republic, according to one of the residents who is now in Katsina city.

Usman Salisu Na’ikke, of a group, Voice of the Poor in the Jibiya Local Government Area, said that “when I visited the town I found less than one-third of the people in the town.

“They are in a state of panic and uncertainty. Two-thirds of the population has fled to Katsina and others to Niger.

“The attackers numbering over 100 carried out the attack on Wednesday night.

“When they arrived, they shot the village head and four others, abducted 15 people, but later 5 escaped.

“The bandits also carted away about 200 cows and other animals, Na’ikke said.

A spokesperson for the police in Katsina State, SP Gambo Isah, said the attack on Daddara was in retaliation for the killing of bandits.
