Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola at Ward 15 in Oyan town, Odo North Local Council development area, have staged a peaceful protest as their names were removed from the party’s membership register.

The affected party members on Saturday converged at the voting centre with their party identification cards.

The affected party members claimed to belong to The Osun Progressives (TOP), a group supporting Alhaji Moshood Adeoti for the APC gubernatorial primary election.

Speaking on behalf of the affected members at the coalition centre, the Welfare Officer of the party, Adesola Adegbite, who presented her party identification card, complained that her name and that of another member standing behind her had been removed from the party membership register.

She added that names of all members who belonged to The Osun Progressives (TOP) group within the party had been removed.

Osun APC has been splintered into two factions.

One faction pledged loyalty to Aregbesola while the other belonged to the camp of Gboyega Oyetola, governor of the state. The minister and his faction are backing Adeoti.

The crisis took a violent turn as the primary election approached, causing anxiety in the state.
