The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, will address officers in the Ogun and Lagos command on Tuesday in response to junior police officers’ decision to go on strike.

According to previous reports, some unhappy Nigeria Police Force rank and file have complained about their low pay, lack of advanced weapons to fight crime, terrible barracks conditions, and failure to furnish uniforms and accoutrements, among other things.

The younger cops questioned why the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives are paid so much more than they are.

Despite the fact that the force headquarters announced a new compensation structure, accessories, tax waivers, and other attempts to reassure the cops, they stated they no longer trust their leaders, saying they have been pushed to the wall.

They demanded N100,000 as the minimum wage, claiming that this would be the first condition for calling off the strike, which is scheduled for March 26, the same day as the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention.
Worried by the development, it was reported that the presidency had summoned the Inspector General, warning him that the country could not afford a strike at this time.
As a result, it has been learned that the IGP will address his men in Lagos and Ogun States today.
