Soldiers from Ondo State’s 32 Artillery Brigade and operatives of the State Security Network called Amotekun Corps battled on Tuesday evening in Akure, the state capital, following the latter’s seizure of over 100 cows.

The cows were taken into custody for allegedly breaking the state’s anti-grazing ordinance.

Amotekun operatives grabbed the cows after receiving distress calls from farmers, according to reports.

Farmers in Akure’s Oke-Aro axis had protested the invasion of their fields by cows and herders, which had resulted in crop destruction.

According to one story, the troops invaded the area and prevented the cows from being carried away.

According to reports, the troops claimed that the cows belonged to their supervisors at the barracks.

The scenario was alleged to have resulted in the firing of gunshots into the air as well as yelling marches among security officers, with two Amotekun operators being carried away by troops.

“As Amotekun personnel were marching the arrested cows to their office in the Alagbaka area of the state, troops numbering approximately ten invaded the area with Hilux vehicles and stopped the arrest of the cows,” the source said.

“The troops urged that the Amotekun men not take the cows because they belonged to their military barrack’s office
