Nigerian attacker sends Villarreal into Champions League semi-finals
Nigerian-born attacker, Samuel Chukwueze, Tuesday night sent his Spanish La Liga club, Villarreal, into Champions League semi-finals after his 88th-minute strike at the Allianz Arena saw Bayern Munich dumped out of the competition.
The strike by Chukwueze gave the Spaniards a 1-1 draw in the second leg of their quarter-final match and they were through on a 2-1 aggregate, after they beat Bayern 1-0 in their first-leg encounter.
During the Tuesday night tie, Robert Lewandowski had put Bayern ahead and it was looking like the match was heading to extra time until the Nigerian-born striker struck at 88th-minute.
Bayern Munich have now exited the Champions League in the quarter-finals for the second year running, while Villarreal made it into the semi-finals for the first time since 2006.
Spaniards will now face either Liverpool or Benfica in the last four.
