A renowned broadcaster, Yemi Ademokoya, has died in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

She died on Saturday at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, Ilorin, following a brief illness.

Ademokoya was the treasurer of the National League of Veteran Journalists, Kwara State Chapter, till her death.

In a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday, the Kwara State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) expressed its condolences to the family of the late renowned television journalist.

The union heard the news of the tragic death of the energetic journalists in the state with unpleasant shock and bewilderment, according to a statement issued by the Council’s Chairman, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, and Secretary, Comrade Omotayo Ayanda.

Kwara NUJ, according to the statement, will not forget her vibrancy even in retirement as she contributed positively to the journalism profession.

“As tragic as the passing of Mrs Ademokoya is for broadcasters and all of us in pen fraternity, we take solace in her various contributions to the journalism profession, especially the broadcast industry in Kwara State where she groomed and mentored many fine broadcasters and journalists, who are excelling in the industry across the globe”, the NUJ said.

The death of Ademokoya was recognized as a “colossal loss” to the broadcasting sector and the profession of journalism in the statement.

The union, on the other hand, pleaded to Almighty God to give the family the strength to suffer the unrecoverable loss.

Mrs. Yemi Ademokoya Agboola, a veteran broadcaster who died at the age of 67, is survived by her family, children, and grandkids.
