John Obi Mikel, a former Chelsea midfielder, has named Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard as the most tough player he has ever faced in his career.

During their tenure at Chelsea and Liverpool, Mikel faced up against Gerrard on several occasions.

Gerrard, who is currently the manager of Aston Villa, is too strong and swift, according to the former Super Eagles captain.

Mikel Obi told Nigerian radio station Naija FM 102.7 in Lagos that the most tough player he’d ever faced in his career was: “The most difficult player I faced during my Chelsea career is Steven Gerrard.

“He is too quick and strong. I have never seen a white player who is so strong, quick, and fast.
“He is good on the ball,” the former Nigerian international added.

During his ten-and-a-half years at Chelsea, Mikel made 372 appearances in all competitions.
In the past, the 35-year-old has played for Chelsea, Middlesbrough, and Stoke City, as well as Trabzonspor, Tianjin Jinmen Tiger, and Kuwait Sporting Club.
