EXCLUSIVE: Several Nigerian soldiers missing after terrorists’ attack on Abuja base

Some Nigerian Army personnel are presently missing and feared abducted after some terrorists attacked their base at Zuma barracks along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.

Caracal Reports learnt from military sources that a number of terrorists were killed as the soldiers tried to repel the attack but the fighters in their large number were able to escape with some army personnel.

“The terrorists invaded the facility few minutes ago causing pandemonium in the barracks. They left with some soldiers, although some of the fighters were also gunned down,” a source said.

“It was the same set of ISWAP terrorists who attempted to attack the Law School in Bwari. But we chased them from Bwari and they regrouped around Zuma barracks in Zuba area, close to Niger State boundary,” another military source said.

A source who spoke to Caracal Reports said motorists and commuters were forced to abandon their vehicles on the road and scampered to safety.

“As we were approaching Zuma Rock, we saw people running out of their vehicles into different directions. They told us that the road has been blocked by the terrorists and that they are attacking some barracks,” a witness said.  

It cannot be ascertained if any soldier was killed in the attack.

The attack is coming barely few days after a captain and two soldiers were shot dead in the Bwari Area Council while responding to a distress call of an attack on the law school.
