Super Falcons drop seven places in latest FIFA Ranking

U-20 WWC: Falconets boss, Danjuma banks on ‘Nigerian Spirit’ to beat France

The Super Falcons of Nigeria, nine-time African champions, fell seven places in the latest women’s ranking announced by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) on Friday.

Randy Waldrum’s team was rated 39th in June but has since plummeted to 46th.

The Super Falcons, on the other hand, maintained their lead in Africa.

The team’s drop in the rankings might be linked to a lacklustre performance in the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The West Africans, who lost their title to South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, won three and lost three of their six games in the competition.

The Super Falcons are one of four African teams who will play in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

South Africa has risen to second place on the continent, with Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses sliding to third.

Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire are ranked fourth and fifth in the continent, respectively.
