In an attack on a police outpost in the Magami hamlet of Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, bandits stole the cellphones of the on-duty police officers.

Magami is one of the areas of Zamfara State that has been devastated by violence. As a result of the terrorists’ relentless strikes, a number of inhabitants have left the neighborhood.

The shooters entered the village at 3:40 pm, according to Abdul Balarabe, a local journalist who covers terror attacks in the state.

After gathering the phones, he claimed, the terrorists fired into the air before retreating back into the forest.

“Bandits attacked Magami Divisional police station under Gusau LGA of Zamfara State, snatching phones and other valuables belonging to the police on duty, they also fired warning shots and escaped. The incident happened today around 3:40pm,” Balarabe claimed in a tweet.

According to local sources, the bandits raided the stations with the goal of releasing one of them who was being held there.

But by the time they arrived, the suspect had supposedly been moved to the state police’s main office.

“They collected the phones of all the officers on duty and that of one of the complainants they met there, but didn’t kill anybody,” according to a source.

SP Muhammed Shehu, the police public relations officer (PPRO) in Zamfara, refuted the report when reached and stated, “No such thing happened.”

However, when pressed for more information, he declined.
