Panic as Lagos experiences third fire incident in one week

There is fear and uncertainty as another fire outbreak occurred in the Yaba area of Lagos State a few hours after a fire incident at the head office of Providus Bank on Victoria Island in Lagos on Tuesday.

The short video of the fire incident was posted but there are no official details yet on the cause of the fire outbreak as there is no statement yet.

A middle-aged man was burnt to death with no fewer than nine persons injured when fire gutted the head office of Providus Bank at Adeola Odeku, Victoria Island.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident earlier said, “The fire started within the bank premises on Tuesday morning. Our vehicle got burnt but our officers were not affected.

“One person died and others were injured. The injured persons have been hospitalised.”

Similarly, in the early hours of last Wednesday, there was a fire incident at the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) building in the Yaba area of the state.

Unfortunately, in all these recurring fire incidents in the state, the causes were not clearly ascertained.
