Top technology and financial experts have charted out a development course for Africa through digital identity management to achieve economic transformation and financial inclusion.  

The experts including thought leaders, and Innovators explored the theme “Digital Economy and the Nexus between E-identity, Connectivity, and Financial Inclusion” at The CIO Africa summit 2023 in Oniru, Lagos Island, Lagos State. 

Some of the key speakers at the programme convened by Abiola Laseinde, were; Tola Sunmonu-Balogun, Associate Partner, McKinsey, Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission, Aliyu Aziz. 

He was represented by the Director, Database, Femi Fabunmi; also there were the panelists; Wale Obadare CEO, Digital Encode, Olu Akanmu, CEO Opay, Gabrielle Sgariglia CTO, Airtel Nigeria, Seun Solanke CIO, Airtel Nigeria, Shoyinka Shodunke CIO, MTN Nigeria, Mohammed Rufai CTO, MTN Nigeria, Richard Nunekpeku VP Chang Fintech & Payment Association, Oludare Ishola, Tonitory Account Manager, FSI Hewlett Packard and many more graced the summit. 

The discussions were focused on harnessing digital identity management for economic transformation as well as financial inclusion globally and in Africa. 

The speakers also talked about trends, risks, challenges, opportunities, regulations, and general market governance mechanisms and instruments) for enhanced access to Information Technology that will enable Africans to meet its net zero commitment and achieve sustainable socio-economic development. 

The CIO Club Africa is a registered NGO established by Abiola Laseinde, to inspire stakeholders within the IT ecosystem towards driving the digital transformation agenda of Africa. The Club operates on four strategic pillars: Advocacy, Empowerment, Think-tank and Research & Development.
