FG gets $98m Islamic bank education grant

The Federal Government, through the Universal Basic Education, has secured a grant of $98m from the Islamic Development Bank to fund “Bilingual Education Project,” in nine states.

The beneficiary states are Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Kwara, Nassarawa, Niger and Osun.

A notice of procurement issued by UBEC and sighted by our correspondent in Abuja on Sunday, revealed that: “The Federal Government of Nigeria has received financing for an amount of $98m from the Islamic Development Bank towards the cost of Bilingual Education Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for the procurement of instructional materials and supplies for the 30 bilingual education boarding schools in the nine participating states.”

Adamawa has three bilingual schools; Borno has three; Gombe, three; Kaduna, four; Kano, four; Kwara, three; Nasarawa, three; Niger, four and Osun, three.
