Bauchi Emir suspends Yakubu Dogara as Jakadan Bauchi
Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu the Emir of Bauchi has suspended the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, from bearing the traditional title of Jakadan Bauchi with immediate effect.
The suspension followed the recent attack on the Emirs of Bauchi and Dasso Emirate Council, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu and Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman on December 31, 2021 while on their way to Bogoro in Bogoro Local Government Area to attend the 21st Baba Gonto Memorial Lecture and book launch.
Announcing Dogara’s suspension to newsmen in Bauchi Monday in his palace, the Emir said the decision took immediate effect pending the determination of a case on the matter, which indicted the former Speaker on the attack, by the court.

According to the Emir who was represented by the Galadiman Bauchi, Surveyor Sa’idu Ibrahim Jahun, “It is uncalled for that Yakubu Dogara, being one of those who hailed from Bogoro and a traditional title holder of the venerable Bauchi Emirate Council, was suspected to be one of those behind the attack on the Emirs of Bauchi and Dass.
“At the recent Council meeting, we reviewed the case again and expressed dismay one of the sons of the area, a stakeholder and our traditional titleholder, was mentioned as one misleading the people and perpetuating the incident.
“More surprisingly, he did not sympathise nor show any sign of remorse towards what happened to their Royal Highnesses, the Emirs of Bauchi and Dass.”
He added, “The Emirate Council, therefore, decided to suspend his title of Jakadan Bauchi until the determination of the case by the court.”
